We Will Always Have Punxsutawney

According to Trivago, the average price of a hotel room in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania for a one-night stay to bear witness to the town's 2017 Groundhog Day celebration was $450.  In Houston, Texas, Trivago reported the average price of a hotel room for Sunday's Super Bowl is $340.  Apparently, Phil does thrill.  Who knew?

In case you opted against dropping approximately $500 to make a road trip to Punxsutawney this year, you can experience all of the excitement of being there without having to leave the comfort of your own home.  AMC shall begin airing "Groundhog Day" at 9:00 AM EDT today and shall air it, back-to-back and belly-to-belly through the wee small hours (a/k/a "the time I get up") tomorrow morning, with its final showing beginning at 2:30 AM EDT.

It may in fact be an inane holiday but it serves as the basis of one of the greatest films ever made. That, in and of itself, makes it worth the fuss, even if it does not make it worth anywhere close to $450 a night.

Unless of course, God happens to be in the diner when you stop in for breakfast...

...then it is a bargain at any price.
