Strength In Numbers

Yeah, he's yelling about my tattoos
We all live with the scars we choose
They might hurt like hell

Eleven months from this very day shapes up as one of the all-time days of my life to date.  For on this very day - eleven months out - I shall accompany up the aisle a quite extraordinary young woman, Suzanne, on her wedding day.  This shall be my only opportunity to do this so I have to make certain I do not screw it up.  Holy smokes -eleven months.  It will be upon us before we realize it.

Today the Missus and I - flanked by an impressive collection of family and great friends - are getting together at Nomahegan Park in Cranford NOT to walk (despite what we told Margaret's cousin Salli Jo) but to run.  This morning at 9:00 a.m. the fourth iteration of Sue's Crew shall be among those participating in the 14th Annual Run for Mom - an event whose sole purpose is to raise funds to heighten breast cancer awareness and assist those in need of help due to the damage inflicted upon them by the illness.

Sue's Crew is a labor of love that Suzanne and her cousin Megan first constructed in the late summer of 2009 as a way to honor the life and legacy of their Nona - the legendary Suzy B.  It is our present intention - even as the composition of our roster changes from year to year - to assemble a Crew each year until someone discovers a cure for breast cancer.  If, and only if, scientific advances render us unnecessary shall we cease to exist.  Until that day arrives, there shall be days like this day.

And on this day, we run....

....and we shall never forget the "who" and the "why" we do what we do.
